Antichrist delves into sexual malevolence as has never been shown on film before, which results from a tragic accident. The immense sorrow that hangs over the soul of a mother after losing her child to a fall cripples her psyche and exposes the woman for what she is. Pain has stripped down this woman's walls of human decency while rotting the core of her belief in hope or any attainable jubilation.
Her husband, a psychiatrist is left to put together a broken woman who questions his love for their deceased son. His dedication to treating and curing his psychologically disturbed wife, lead the couple to the woods to confront the fear that his wife describes as 'satan's church.' The cinematography is breathtakingly beautiful despite the grim and amount of evil felt throughout the film.
A strong caution: Images of self mutilation and subconsciously grave images that will instill themselves in you.
