MISTER LONELY

Wanting to be someone else because you are afraid that you will be just another ordinary human being on this Earth. Being comfortable in your own skin, and having people notice you for something other than what you truly are. Harmony Korine struck a nerve with me on this one. A story, and in some ways a fable of celebrity impersonators who reside in a beautiful castle in Wales surrounded my the sea, and the mountains, and the sky. This intro to Mister Lonely is one of my favorites.

THEM THANGS

Visual inspiration from a multitude of artists, musicians, photographers, scumbags, and deadbeats. My friend Cassie turned me onto this blog that grabs images from the infinite ends of the internet, to create a visual stimuli that makes you think and at times ask "what the fuck?" Anyway, I am bummed this guy girl's? site is no longer up. According to him, he transferred more data on his site than CNN.com. That's something. Unfortunately you can't see his past work, but click the title for his or her? goodbye statement. For an idea of how this blog functioned, take a look at hr studio plus. Link below.

Une Femme est une femme

Synopsis

With A Woman Is a Woman (Une femme est une femme), compulsively innovative director Jean-Luc Godard presents “a neorealist musical—that is, a contradiction in terms.” Featuring French superstars Anna Karina, Jean-Paul Belmondo, and Jean-Claude Brialy at their peak of popularity, A Woman Is a Woman is a sly, playful tribute to—and interrogation of—the American musical comedy, showcasing Godard’s signature wit and intellectual acumen. The film tells the story of exotic dancer Angéla (Karina) as she attempts to have a child with her unwilling lover Émile (Brialy). In the process, she finds herself torn between him and his best friend Alfred (Belmondo). A dizzying compendium of color, humor, and the music of renowned composer Michel Legrand, A Woman Is a Woman finds the young Godard at his warmest and most accessible, reveling in and scrutinizing the mechanics of his great obsession: the cinema.

Lady Gaga, Cunningham, and Barney

So much Chris Cunningham influence as well as influence from Matthew Barney as far as art direction and movement. I prefer to watch this with the sound off. This is visually awesome, but christ this song is terrible.

Clever CD packaging

Zinkplaat is a South African pop blues rock group that have a pretty cool sound. To be honest, I haven't heard much, but I was so intrigued by their packaging I sought out to look for their music online, which is kind of hard to do. Their album Mooi Besoedeling translates to "Beautiful Polution." I'll see if I can find the album online somewhere.

Lucky 9Teen

Thoroughly excited for this release. Over the past year my ears have been filled with swirling, off-beat, icicle-dripped, multi-colored prismatic textures of sound, and one of my favorite producers of this new movement, has to be Mike Slott. Mike currently resides in New York City, but has allies worldwide on the forefront of the advancement of beat creations. I haven't listened to "hip-hop" in a bit, and when I say that I am referring formulaic beat measures. I suppose my mind has been craving more gallant other-dimensional beat music. Can't wait for this one. Click title for track off new ep.

Jackie Brown

I love this movie. Pam Grier at her finest (yes, both connotations apply). As an aging flight attendant trying to get herself one last piece of the pie, or die trying, Jackie Brown is as ambitious as she is crafty. Killer cast: Robert Deniro, Bridget Fonda, Samuel Jackson, and Robert Forster. And of course with Tarantino, the soundtrack is a must have. This movie came out in 1997 with lukewarm attendance and reviews, but
over a decade later, I still find it to be an excellent heist film with a heart.

I found a cool website http://www.matchboxpinhole.com/ that shows you step by step how to make a pinhole matchbox camera, with most of the materials already being in your home. cool little project if you have about an hour and a half to kill.
